The Bible Year

2023 has been designated “The Year of the Bible” at Grace UMC. Within each of our ministries and meetings, we will be progressively walking through the Bible. Please join us in this survey. If you would like your own copy of this material, you may find it on Cokesbury here: The Bible Year Devotional

The Bible Year challenges individuals, small groups, and entire congregations to read the Bible – all of it – in one year. It’s the resource we need to open our minds, stretch our imaginations, and inspire our hearts ast he same Holy Spirit who inspired the written word enables it to become the livingWord in our lives. Take the challenge! You’ll be glad you did!

James Harnish, Retired United Methodist pastor and author of A Disciples’ Path

The word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Again and again, we are reminded of our need for guidance and grounding, and especially in times of crisis and chaos. It turns out that a year of immersion in the stories of the Bible helps us to see our stories in a new light-there is provision, there is purpose, ther is hope. This is how we make disciples for the transformation of the world. This is how the church is revived and renewed. I am deeply grateful to Magrey deVega and the people of Hyde Park. And I am deeply hopeful that many will rediscover this ancient path.

Ken Carter, bishop, Florida and Western North Carolina Conferences, The United Methodist Church and author, God Will Make a Way
