Mark Your Calendar!

The bottom right drawer of my dresser has no clothes in it. Fortunately, I have six drawers, so there’s plenty of room for clothes in the other five, but the sixth drawer just has stuff. Really meaningful stuff. It’s the place that holds my childhood diaries, nametags from various events and jobs, and past planners from when I kept my life organized on paper.

Every once in a while, I pull something out and revel in nostalgia. I can see work shifts from my first jobs, appointments for college entrance exams, and dates with the really sweet boy who became my husband. Sometimes there’s bonus material, like movie ticket stubs.

These days, I’d be lost without my Google calendar. It’s brilliantly color-coded display and 30-minute prior reminders keep me headed in the right direction, not to mention making sure my family gets to all their commitments. So, if you’re like me and need to put things on your calendar, whether it’s print or digital, consider these opportunities this weekend:

Saturday, November 4

Grace Workday, 8am-12noon

Come lend a hand as we clean up our landscaping and complete some much-needed projects. Join us with your gloves, yard tools, and a spirit of fun fellowship! We would appreciate chainsaws or pole saws for tree-trimming. We also need trailers and strong muscles since we have some big items to haul off! Come and go as you can!

Sunday, November 5

Worship, 11am

We’ll start our next worship series based on Anne Lamott’s book, Help, Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers. Prayer is taking the chance that, against all odds and past history, we are loved and chosen, and we don’t have to get it together before we show up.

Church Conference & Potluck, 5pm

Bring a dish to share and celebrate the ministry of our church this past year. Our district superintendent, Rev. Todd Harris, will be present for this annual meeting in which we praise God, receive reports from this past year, elect our lay leaders for the coming year, and hear a word from our Bishop. Stick around afterwards to eat, talk, and laugh together like the beautiful, messy family we are.

Holiday Bazaar donations, all day

Bring your crafts, kits, quilts, tumblers, candle holders, or other items for the Holiday Bazaar. You can price your items or let the team do that for you. All donations are being held in the music office. If you have any questions, contact Tracey Hoover.

I am praying for you. I hope you’re praying for me.

grace & peace,

Pastor Jessica.
